Vinegar may help hair retain semi-permanent dye.

Semi-permanent hair dye is perfect for anybody who wants a style change but does not want the long-term commitment of permanent dye. The main downfall of semi-permanent dye, however, is the tendency for its color to quickly fade. Some manufacturers of semi-permanent hair dye recommend the use of vinegar to help retain the bold color longer. The vinegar changes the pH of hair, which is thought to help it hold dye more efficiently. The best method is to use the vinegar after dying your hair instead of mixing it in the dye.
