Monitronics alarm monitoring service requires a 36- to 60-month agreement that automatically converts to a monthly service plan at the termination of the contract. Subscribers who do not want to continue their service must notify the company in writing no less than 30 days from the contract end date to avoid being charged for month-to-month service.
Writing the Cancellation Letter
Write a simple statement expressing your desire to discontinue service and the date on which you want the cancellation to take effect. Include your seven-digit customer number, the service address, and your phone number. Sign and date the letter and mail it to:
Monitronics - ATTN: Customer Care
PO Box 814530
Dallas, TX 75381-4530
Use certified mail so you can receive confirmation when your request is delivered.
Settle Any Balance
Subscribers who cancel service before the contract term ends are responsible for the time left on the contract and must pay off any remaining balance. While you can't cancel the service over the phone, you can settle your bill that way. Call 800-447-9239 to notify the company of your cancellation and to make your final payment. You can make payment by credit card over the phone or you can mail a check or money order to:
Monitronics Funding LP
Department CH 8628
Palatine, IL 60055-8628
Follow up with customer service if you do not receive written confirmation of your cancellation within 10 business days.
Do not include payment with the cancellation letter, as these items are handled by two different departments and your items may not reach their intended recipients.
