How to Troubleshoot Bars on Vizio

Save

One of the most annoying things about having a high-definition TV is the lack of HD programming available. When a video source is not transmitting the signal in high definition, the picture showed onscreen on HDTVs will not take up the whole screen, leaving big, black bars around the edges. Vizio gave their HDTVs many options when it comes to changing the way the picture from video sources is displayed onscreen. If you are annoyed by the black bars on your screen, you can change a setting in the TV to remove them.

  • Turn on your Vizio HDTV and press the "Menu" button on your remote control.

  • Select the "Wide" submenu, and then choose your viewing mode. The options will be "Zoom1," "Zoom2," "Normal," and "Panoramic." Panoramic mode is recommended for standard definition video as it will fill the screen without stretching the center of the picture.

  • Press the "OK" button on your remote to finalize your selection, and then press the "Exit" button to close the menu. The black bars will no longer be displayed on your Vizio HDTV.
