How to Replace the Side View Mirror on a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic

The side view mirror on a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic mounts through the sheet metal on the outside of the door and is secured to the inside of the door with three bolts hidden behind a plastic access panel. Given the way the mirror attaches to the door, it requires every few tools to replace one and just a little time since you do not have to disassemble the door to remove the mirror.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the door and roll down the window on the Caprice. This allows you to hold the mirror while you remove its bolts

    • 2

Remove the access panel that covers the bolts by pulling it off the door. The panel is located on the inside of the door, directly opposite where the mirror mounts onto the outside of the door.

    • 3

Pull the wiring connector for the mirror motor off the switch located on the access panel. This will disconnect the mirror from the electrical system.

    • 4

Hold the mirror with one hand while you remove the bolts that secure the mirror to the door with a socket.

    • 5

Pull the old mirror out of the door and slide the studs on the mounting surface of the new mirror through the door.

    • 6

Hold the mirror with one hand while you secure it to the door with the three bolts and the socket.

    • 7

Push the connector for the mirror motor back onto the switch in the access panel. Then push the cover onto the inner door, snapping it into place.
