3D Puzzle Directions
Jigsaw puzzles are traditionally flat and are made up of dozens and sometimes hundreds of pieces. However, assembling a 3D puzzle can be a challenge for even an advanced puzzle-maker because even after you've completed the "traditional" part of building the puzzle, the challenge of assembling the model is still ahead. Take care of the puzzle correctly, and you will soon see a building, ship or historical site rise before your eyes.

Clear a work space and lay out the puzzle pieces in front of you, face up. Group as many of these pieces as you can, based on color, pattern and rough shape.

Remove any pieces with red dots from your immediate work space. These pieces are waste materials from the factory. Store these in the empty puzzle box; don't throw them away until after you complete the puzzle, in case you mistake a piece for a castoff.

Piece together the parts that make up the puzzle. Your model may have many or just several individual panels that make up the exterior of the model. Construct all of these "mini-puzzles." Push the "knobs" and "slots" on the jigsaw-cut edges of the puzzle together. Start by assembling the corners and edges, then working your way toward the middle.

Build the cardboard structure inside the model if your model has one. Some models are so large or have so many parts that they require an internal structure made of cardboard, which is more rigid than the foam backing of the 3D puzzle. Build this structure so you can attach the pieces to it. The cardboard will insert into tiny cuts in the back of the puzzle foam. Consult the manual or technical specifications with your model for specific instructions.

Assemble the panels of the model into the actual model. Push the teeth of the different panels together so that they mesh to attach them to each other. Look at the packaging or the manual to determine where each panel needs to go, and attach them to each other to form the model.
