How to Play MP3s With a Car Cassette Player

You can play MP3s through your car's cassette player.

Auxiliary audio ports on car stereos, often labeled "AUX," "MP3" or "iPod," allow you to connect a portable audio player to the stereo and play music from the device through your car's sound system. However, if you have and older model car stereo with a cassette player, it's unlikely that the stereo includes an auxiliary port. But with the help of a cassette adapter, you can play music from your MP3 player or any other portable audio device through your car's cassette player.

Things You'll Need

• Cassette adapter
• MP3 player

Instructions

1. Power on your MP3 player and set its volume to 50 percent.

2. Insert the cassette adapter's 1/8-inch adapter plug into your MP3 player's headphone port.

3. Insert the cassette adapter into your car's cassette player.

4. Start your MP3 player using your MP3 device. Control your music's volume with your cassette player's volume controls.
