Improve your pet's balance with a wobble board

Agility wobble boards help dogs improve their balance, strength and agility. As of 2010, these boards typically retail for around $100. However, you can build your own, basic wobble board on a limited budget. These boards consist of a flat surface and a curved bottom that forces dogs to balance. The boards have a rocker mode and a teeter mode. Rocker mode consists of a gently curved bottom while teeter mode consists of a bottom with a curved pivot point in the middle.

Instructions

  1. Rocker Style

    • 1

Lay the plywood on the ground.

    • 2

Lay the PVC pipe on top of the plywood, horizontally. The PVC pipe should run across the longer side of the board.

    • 3

Drill two holes in the board. These holes should be in the center of the board, about 4 to 6 inches apart. The holes should run next to each other, on the shorter side of the board.

    • 4

Tie the pipe to the board. Run the string through the first hole and wrap it around the pipe several times. Pull the string through the other hole. Pull the string across the board, into the first hole and wrap it around the pipe once more. Tie the string tightly by making a knot.

    Teeter Style

    • 5

Lay the board on the ground and set a tennis ball in the very center of the board.

    • 6

Secure the tennis ball using duct tape.

    • 7

Place your dog on the board to make sure the ball is perfectly centered.
