How to Fill in a Record With Data From a Previous Record in Access 2003

Access 2007 comes with an auto fill feature, which allows you to transfer information from a previous record into a new one. Doing so allows you to cut back on the amount of information you have to enter when you start a new database. To do so, you need to create a relationship between the previous database and the new one you are trying to create.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Access 2007 and choose "Queries," then select "New."

    • 2

Select "Design View" and choose the tables with the information you wish to auto fill.

    • 3

Choose the fields you wish to query.

    • 4

Create a relationship between the table with the information you want to auto fill and the new database.

    • 5

Select "Forms" from the main menu, then choose "New" and "Form Wizard."

    • 6

Choose the query you just made. This is the basis for the form. Add any fields you wish to include. Once done, click "Finish."

Tips & Warnings

  • The more fields you auto fill, the less information you have to input with new databases.
