How to Use System Proxy Settings

System network administrators set up proxy servers to funnel all Internet usage through one server. This lets the administrator control bandwidth, block unwanted websites and analyze Internet usage. You enter the proxy server settings in the Internet Explorer browser settings. The settings instruct the browser to use the Windows proxy server to access the Internet. Some administrators restrict access to the Internet, so only the proxy server can be used.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button, and select "All Programs." Click "Internet Explorer" to open your Windows browser.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" button, and then click "Internet Options." This opens a configuration window for your browser.
