How to Measure for Knee Pads

Knee pads are used for many sports, including rollerblading.

Knee pads are used for sports ranging from rollerblading, roller hockey, soccer and skateboarding. This piece of safety gear needs to be sized properly to ensure safety and proper use. Take your measurements at home or at any retail outlet where there is a staff of sales associates trained in taking the measurements. Various makers have different ways of sizing knee pads. Small, medium, large and extra-large are one way knee pads are measured, as are inch increments such as 6 inch, 8 inch or higher.

Things You'll Need

• Tailor measuring tape

Instructions

1. Wrap the tape measure around the knee, just above the knee-cap.

2. Record the measurement in inches.

3. Measure 6 inches above and below the knee cap if purchasing longer knee pads. Take the measurement in inches.

4. Take the measurements to the retailer or safety gear supply store to get the proper-size knee pads.
