Washing Machine Detergent-Drawer Cleaning
Washing machine detergent drawers can build up a thick layer of detergent from regular use. This buildup can lead to mold or mildew growth, resulting in a foul odor that can affect your laundry. Some detergent drawers are removable for simple cleanup, but those that aren't are still washable. No cleaning products are necessary; a few tools and some hot water are all that's needed to remove the buildup. Clean your washing machine detergent drawer regularly to keep it working efficiently. Turn off the washing machine and remove the detergent drawer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Rinse the detergent drawer under hot running water.

Fill a container with 1/2 cup hot water and pour it into the detergent drawer, if the drawer is not removable.

Wipe out the inside of the detergent drawer with a cloth. Dampen it with hot water to melt the detergent buildup. Scrub any hard-to-reach areas with a toothbrush.

Rinse the detergent drawer thoroughly with hot water. If the drawer is not removable, fill the container again with 1/2 cup hot water and pour it into the detergent drawer to rinse it.

Dry the detergent drawer with a clean cloth.
