How to Buy Used Land Rovers

How to Buy Used Land Rovers thumbnail
Classic Land Rovers are used all over the world because of their ability to handle rough terrain.

The Land Rover was introduced in 1948. It was built to sustain extreme conditions and rough terrains with the strength and durability for almost any activity. The Land Rover was made for off-road mobility. They may not be in the best condition if they were not properly maintained. Buying a used Land Rover can be tricky, depending on the year and condition you are looking for. Older or Classic Land Rovers may require restoration, while a newer Land Rover may not require any work at all.

Instructions

    • 1

Set your budget. Whether you are looking into restoring an older model or buying a newer model, have your budget set for the Land Rover itself. Be sure to include any parts or upgrades you may need or want.

    • 2

Decide which model and year you are looking for. You may want to get your hands dirty and restore a classic model or keep it clean and simple by buying a newer model that needs little to no repair. Since the Land Rover has been around since 1948, there are many models to choose from.

    • 3

Research the year and model you have chosen. The more you know about that specific model will help to guide you in making the right purchase.

    • 4

Go to a Land Rover dealership, if you are looking for a new model, and test drive the vehicle. Ask the dealer any questions you may have about the vehicle and if they have any recommendations or suggestions for you. If you are buying a newer model it may still be under a warranty.

    • 5

Locate Land Rovers that are for sale. Use sites such as Auto Trader, Craigslist or Land Rover Trader Online to help you locate the exact model and year you are looking for.

    • 6

Run a CarFax report on the vehicle you have selected before you purchase it. You will need to acquire the vehicle identification number, which is usually located on the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle, to look up the vehicle. The CarFax report will notify you of the vehicle's history and alert you if there are any problems with the vehicle's title.
