How to Recycle Nike Shoes

Nike Grind is part of Nike's shoe recycling program, which has been in existence since 1990. Through this recycling program the recycled rubber and fabric from the shoe are used to create all types of sport surfaces, such as outdoor tennis and basketball courts, running tracks, wood surfaces and playground surfaces. Recycling drop-off and shipping locations are located throughout the United States and in several other countries.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a drop-off location in your area by going to Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe website. Select the link "Drop-off Locations" located on the left side of the computer screen under the section titled "Get Involved."

    • 2

Select your country from the drop-down list. Enter your zip code into the appropriate field to find locations in your area.

    • 3

Write down the information of the recycling center you plan on visiting. You can bring up to 10 pairs of athletic shoes at a time to any of the drop-off locations.

    • 4

Remove any shoes that contain cleats, are wet, have metal in them or are damp. These shoes can damage the recycling machine.

    • 5

You can also pay to mail your Nike shoes directly to its recycling facility. The mailing address is

      Nike Grind Processing

      3552 Avenue of Commerce

      Memphis, TN 38125.
