Chkdsk Won't Run at Startup
The Microsoft chkdsk tool scans and repairs any issues on your computer hard drive. Oftentimes, troubleshooting chkdsk is as simple as re-enabling it. If the chkdsk feature will not run at start-up, you can repair it with a manual procedure that restores the feature to its default settings. Press the Windows key. Click "All Programs" and then "Accessories."

Right-click "Command Prompt" and click "Run as administrator."

Type the following command at the prompt and press "Enter":
"chkntfs c: /X"
Exit the Command Prompt.

Reboot your computer. Make sure that the chkdsk tool is functional. Allow it to scan and fix any errors.
