How to Put an iTouch into DFU Mode

When your iPod Touch malfunctions or ceases to work, and restoring the software doesn't do the job, you must use iTunes to fully repair the device. Before iTunes can take a crack at restoring the iPod Touch; however, you must place it in DFU mode, which allows iTunes to restore the iTouch firmware.

      Connect your iPod Touch to the PC using the iPod USB cable.

      Press and hold the "sleep" button at the top of the iTouch and the "home" button on the bottom-front for 10 seconds.

      Release the "sleep" button after 10 seconds while continuing to hold the"home" button.

      Click "OK" at the prompt that appears on the PC.
