How to Clean a .32 Beretta Pistol
The Beretta Tomcat is a compact pistol chambered for .32 caliber ammunition. Ideally suited for concealed carry or personal defense, the .32 caliber Tomcat is available with several different finishes including blued steel and flat black. As with any firearm, routine maintenance including cleaning is necessary to keep the pistol in proper working order. It is necessary to partially disassemble the Tomcat so that powder residue and any dirt or debris can be removed to prevent oxidation or rust.

- Towel or rag
- Cleaning rod
- Cleaning patches
- Powder solvent
- Soft bristle brush
- Gun oil

Place a towel or rag on a sturdy work surface to provide protection for the finish of the Beretta Tomcat pistol. Remove the clip and pull back the slide to eject any ammunition. Verify that the gun is completely unloaded before proceeding.

Disassemble the .32 caliber Tomcat for cleaning. Locate the barrel release on the side of the gun and push it forward. Lift the barrel assembly up as far as possible.

Place the safety to the on position and cock the hammer back until it locks in place.

Grasp the front of the slide and pull it slightly back. Raise the front of the slide until it clears the barrel hinge and remove the slide from the frame of the pistol.

Attach a small cleaning patch to the end of a cleaning rod and dip the patch in powder solvent. Run the patch in and out of the barrel several times to loosen powder residue.

Replace the dirty patch with a new one and run it in and out of the barrel. Continue using patches until a patch runs through the barrel clean. Apply oil to the clean patch and run the patch through the barrel to coat it with oil.

Clean the slide and firing chamber of the Tomcat pistol with a cleaning patch dipped in powder solvent. Scrub stubborn deposits of residue with a soft bristle brush to loosen. Wipe the solvent and residue away with clean patches. Apply a thin coat of gun oil to the slide and firing chamber surfaces.

Assemble the Tomcat pistol making sure to lock the barrel release lever back into place. Wipe down the entire surface of the Beretta pistol to remove oily finger prints and coat the metal surfaces with gun oil to act as a barrier against moisture.
