How to Use a FinePix E550 as a Web Cam

Fuji Film's FinePix E550 is a digital camera that also can function as a video camera. You can use this camera as a Web camera, but only under specific conditions. The FinePix E550 can only connect to a computer that is running the Windows XP operating system with the Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed and will work as a Web cam only when used with the Microsoft Windows Messenger video chat program.

Things You'll Need

• Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed
• Windows Messenger 5.0 or any later version
• USB cable

Instructions

1. Connect the FinePix E550 to an AC power source.

2. Power on the camera and press the "Menu" button.

3. In the "USB mode" menu, select "Web."

4. Power off your camera and turn on your computer.

5. Connect the FinePix E550 to your computer with the USB cable.

6. Flip the "Mode" switch on the camera to point to the little picture of a camera and push the power button.

7. Open Windows Messenger and begin chatting with a contact.
