Verizon Wireless customers have plenty of options when it comes to text messaging. Sending a text from your phone is the most common way, but you can send text messages through email using your Verizon Wireless nickname. If you don't know what your nickname is, or you want to change your nickname, you will need to visit the Verizon Wireless website. You will need to have a login to your My Verizon account to change your nickname. Signing up is fast, easy and free.
Navigate your web browser to Verizon Wireless' website. Log on to your account with Verizon Wireless. You need to sign in to make changes to your account like changing your nickname.
Hover your mouse over the "Messaging" option at the top of the page. Click on "Send a Text Message" from the drop-down menu that appears. Alternately, you can click on the "Messaging" option and choose the "Send a Text Message" link in the middle-right section of the page.
Click on the "Preference" tab in the menu on the left, then select "Nickname" from those choices. The window will change and display your nickname in email address format.
Select "Save Nickname" in the bottom right once you have completed your editing. Your new nickname will appear on the Nickname page once more.
