How to Get a Canon Printer Back on a Server

When a Canon printer falls off your network, the problem may be with your server software.

As server and network operating systems are updated or changed, the chances that an installed printer can fall off the network are greatly increased. If your Canon printer is shown to no longer be on your server and a service check has shown that there is nothing malfunctioning with the Canon, you will need to install the drivers designed for your network operating system back on your network.

Instructions

    • 1

Download server operating system appropriate drivers. Go to the Canon support website and download the driver for your Canon printer that matches the operating system that is running on your server.

    • 2

Install drivers on the server. Run the "setup.exe" file to install the drivers on your print server. If the drivers you downloaded are zipped, you will need to extract the files to a network folder on the print server. Once extracted, double click the setup file to begin the installation process.

Send test prints from the server to the Canon printer. If the test is printed successfully, the Canon printer has been re-installed on the server and will be ready for use.
