The side mirror of a Honda CRV is bolted in place within the door, as opposed to some models that may use screws. You need to replace the mirror if it is broken, but you also can replace a current mirror with an aftermarket designer model to add a personal touch to your car. These designer mirrors can be found at specialty stores online or possibly in your area.

Step 1

Pry off the trim cover for the mirror using a trim stick. This cover is on the inner edge of the door, located directly above the car's main inner trim panel and directly opposite the mirror.

Step 2

Disconnect the single electrical connector for the mirror. This is only needed if the CRV is equipped with power mirrors.

Step 3

Remove the three mounting nuts securing the mirror that were behind the trim cover using a small wrench, then remove the mirror from the door on the outside. Be careful, as the mirror may fall out of the door and break.

Step 4

Install the replacement mirror on the door, making sure it fits in the CRV's 5-by-6-by-8-inch triangular mounting surface, and that its mounting studs go into the holes in the door. Apply the mounting nuts; you may need a second person to hold the mirror in place as you tighten the bolts with the wrench.

Step 5

Plug the electrical connector in place if needed.

Step 6

Reconnect the trim cover on the inside edge of the door. You might need to squeeze it along the edges as you push it into place within the triangle.
