How to Reinstall Wireless Zero Configuration

Wireless Zero Configuration is a utility, part of the Microsoft Windows operating system, that allows Windows to detect and automatically connect to your preferred networks when in range. This allows you to automatically connect to your home network every time you power your computer on, without having to manually select your home network and enter the security key. Reinstalling the utility isn't too hard.

      Open the Windows "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel." Select "Appearance and Personalization" > "Folder Options."

      Select "View" > "Advanced." Select "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and click "OK."

      Open the Control Panel once more, but this time navigate to "Network and Sharing Center." Select "Manage Network Connections."

      Right-click "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties." Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" > "Install" > "Service" and click "Add."

      Select the option for already having the disk. A file browser will open. Locate "C:\Windows\inf" and select "netzcw.inf" and click "Open." Select "Microsoft" as the manufacturer when prompted, select "Wireless Zero Configuration" and click "OK."

      Restart the computer to complete the reinstallation.
