How to Use a Dake Bible

The Dake Bible attempts to explain and analyze the contents of the Holy Bible.

The Dake Annotated Reference Bible is the brainchild of the Reverend Finis Jennings Dake. First published in 1961, this version of the Holy Bible is filled with commentary and analysis from Rev. Dake. His interpretation was based on a literal understanding of the text and of the history surrounding the events described within. It is intended to provide an honest, introspective experience that is expanded beyond the original text of the Christian scripture. The Dake Bible is required reading for anybody seeking further analysis of the Bible.

Instructions

1. Open your Dake Bible to your desired page. There is a table of contents in the beginning of the book that can guide you to the book you want to read. The scriptures are located in the black-outlined boxes on the page. Dake's annotations are written outside of the boxes, taking up the majority of the outside of every page.

2. Read the verses you want to understand more and take note of any letters set slightly above and to the right of any words or phrases you read.

3. Find that same letter amongst Dake's notes on the same page with the verse. Every notation has a letter to the right of it and the notations are listed in alphabetical order. After finding the appropriate letter, the note there will offer more insight into its corresponding verse.

• For further research, the Dake Annotated Reference Bible features a complete cyclopedic index in the back of the text so you can look up individual names and concepts, along with a list of pages on which they feature or are discussed.
