How to Download GPS Coordinates to an eTrex Legend

To keep your Garmin eTrex Legend GPS relevant, it is necessary to update it from time to time to keep your maps current. Downloadable updates also sometimes contain software corrections that keep the device running its best.

Instructions

1. Visit the Garmin website. Download and install the proper update file to your computer.

2. Connect your GPS to your PC using the USB connector cable. Power on the GPS device and verify that it is in "Transfer" or "Slave" mode.

3. Change the directory mapping on the GPS and point it to the file location of the download on your PC.

4. Run updater.exe from the file location. When the GPS has completed the update, it will reboot.
