How to Make a POI for Garmin

A Point of Interest (POI), also known as a Waypoint, is a specific destination saved to a GPS' internal disk. POI files can be purchased from many sources online and downloaded to your Garmin GPS. A purchased POI file must be in GPX format and loaded unto the Garmin with the POILoader software. To make your own POI files, you must use the Garmin MapSource software. The new POI will save to the Garmin's internal disk or memory card. If using a memory card, insert the card into the memory card slot in the Garmin.
