It is possible to directly hook up speakers to your iPhone 3G.

The iPhone 3G is able to connect to all the same hardware as a standard standard iPod. This allows you to listen to your favorite music through a larger speaker system. However, if the peripheral equipment is not functioning correctly, you do need to troubleshoot the situation. Typically the device driver hook up has something to do with the problem, and should only take a few moments to correct.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on both the iPhone 3G and the connected equipment. If the peripheral hardware is not turned on, the iPhone is not able to detect the equipment or the driver information being sent to the device.

    • 2

Check the cable connection running from the two devices (if it is a wired connection). The cable must be inserted completely into the phone and the connected equipment. One end of the cable plugs into the power port on the iPhone. The opposite end connects to the auxiliary port on the peripheral hardware

    • 3

Press the "Settings" button on the iPhone 3G, then choose "General." Select "Bluetooth" to activate the Bluetooth settings. This accepts the wireless drivers being sent over from the peripheral device.

    • 4

Type in the correct sync code into the iPhone. This is used only with Bluetooth equipment. The code is listed in the device's user manual. If the wrong code is entered, the driver information is not accepted by the iPhone 3G.
