How to Get a Fast & Easy Divorce
The circumstances leading up to the decision to file for divorce are often unfortunate. A large amount of emotional stress is associated with divorce. To make the process as fast and easy as possible, you and your spouse will need to reach a mutual agreement to facilitate the divorce. You have two filing options, contested and uncontested. The uncontested divorce is the fastest, cheapest and easiest filing option.

1
Communicate with your spouse. To make the divorce fast and easy, you will need your spouse's cooperation. Before obtaining the paperwork, discuss such issues as custody, visitation, child support and division of assets. If you want to file uncontested, you must agree on every detail of the divorce. A dispute over a single issue will result in a contested divorce.

2
Utilize the law library. If you do not understand the legal terminology used in the divorce papers or need to reference prior court cases, the staff at the law library can assist you with finding the proper resources. The faster you are able to complete the paperwork, the faster you can file.

Participate in mediation. If you and your spouse cannot reach an agreement, mediation can help. It is also an alternative to a lengthy and expensive court battle. In mediation, a couple meets with an unaffiliated third-party and attempts to reach a solution to the dispute.

Know your state laws. Each state has its own laws regarding divorce requirements. You may live in a no-fault state, which does not require a valid reason to be granted a quick divorce. In other states, unless your reason for divorce is considered acceptable grounds for divorce, the process will be more difficult and time consuming. If children are involved, certain states have a mandatory parenting course you must take before your divorce is finalized.
