The thread comes from the bobbin.

The Singer Sewing Company manufactures and sells home sewing machines. The Singer 5040 is one of many sewing machines manufactured by the company. Threading a bobbin is a basic skill you must know if you are planning on operating a sewing machine. Sewing machines use thread from a bobbin. Depending on how much you sew, the bobbin will eventually run out of thread. Threading a bobbin is simply the act of adding thread to a bobbin.

Instructions

    • 1

Stop the needle from moving before threading a bobbin. To do this, push on the indent located on the hand wheel. The hand wheel is located on the right side of the machine.

    • 2

Find the spool pin. The spool pin is located on the back of the machine, near the top right. Place a spool on the spool pin and place the spool cap on the spool.

    • 3

Take thread from the spool and place through the thread guide post.

    • 4

Take thread down and around the bobbin winder tension disc in a clockwise direction.

    • 5

Place the thread through the hole in the bobbin. Make sure you place the thread from the inside of the bobbin and out.

    • 6

Place the bobbin on the spindle. The spindle is located at the top right of the machine. Push the spindle to the right.

    • 7

Hold the thread coming out of the bobbin and step on the speed controller. Allow the bobbin to wind until it automatically stops.

    • 8

Cut thread and push spindle to the right. Remove the bobbin.

    • 9

Push the indent on the hand wheel so that it returns to the original position.
