Download the "Sims 2" items and save the files to your desktop.

Go to the Mod the Sims website and download the "CEP" Color Enable Package. You must have this program to enable color changing of original Sims 2 items. If you do not, your new items will not appear in the game.

Open the folder. This may require the files to be unzipped. Zipped files are files that are compressed into one folder. You can unzip files by using Winzip.

Double click the file containing the items for your "Sims 2" game. The file folder will open. Minimize the open folder.

Click "Start" and then open the "My Documents" folder.

Open the folder "EA Games" then "The Sims 2."

Open the folder labeled "Downloads." This is the folder where your downloaded items need to be placed to appear in your game.

Maximize the folder containing the items you previously download and right click a file.

Select "Cut" and then right click on an empty space in the "Downloads" folder.

Select "Paste." This procedure transfers files from the file folder to the "Downloads" folder, thus the items will appear in your game.

Tips & Warnings
If your computer does not contain a "Downloads" folder in the "Sims 2" folder you can create one. Right click an empty space in the "Sims 2" folder and select "New Folder." Name the new folder "Downloads."
