How to Repair Wheels on a Wave Caster Board

The caster board balances on two wheels.

Caster boarding remains a popular alternative to conventional skateboarding. Unlike the skateboard that requires you to push the board forward, caster boarders utilize a hip swinging motion to accelerate the board. The Wave refers to a signature caster board model manufactured by the Street Surfing company. Both skateboard wheels and caster board wheels have distinct similarities. Skate wheels of all sizes often have a urethane construction. The caster board wheels also feature ball bearings that enable them to roll. Damage may occur to your Wave caster board wheels due to a rough riding terrain.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your Wave caster board upside down on a work desk. Identify the two wheels that have been fastened to the bottom of your caster board. Rotate the wheel with your thumb to slowly spin it. Examine the entire surface of the wheel to determine if it has been damaged.

    • 2

Identify any holes or missing chunks of urethane as well as flat spots on the wheels. Pinpoint the bolt that runs through the center of each of the Wave caster board wheels. Place an appropriately sized Allen wrench into the opening of the first bolt. Rotate the handle towards the left to loosen the fastening bolt.

    • 3

Loosen the remaining wheel bolt by following the same procedure. Remove the wheels of your Wave caster board from the wheel housings. Rub your fingers around each of the urethane wheel to find any rough patches. Release the blade of the utility knife by pressing up on the button and sliding it toward the front of the knife.

    • 4

Utilize the blade of the utility knife to shave down the rough spots or holes that have formed in the urethane wheels. Hold a small piece of sandpaper between your forefinger and thumb. Rub around the newly shaved areas of you caster board wheels to ensure they remain smooth. Place the two wheels of your Wave caster board back into the corresponding housings.

    • 5

Insert a fastening bolt back through the middle of each wheel. Utilize the appropriately sized Allen wrench to fasten your wheels back to the bottom of your caster board. Ride the board slowly to determine if the wheels have been properly repaired. Make any necessary adjustments using the blade of the utility knife.
