According to the State of Florida, in addition to preparing for the interview, applicants may be expected to take a proficiency exam (if necessary), work sample exercise, and more--if selected to proceed to the next step in the candidate selection process.

1. Visit the State of Florida's People First website at https://jobs.myflorida.com.

2. Or, contact the government agency (e.g. Department of Health & Human Services) in which you wish to apply.

3. Or, Contact a One Stop Career Center in Florida at http://www.employflorida.com or by selecting the center in your neighborhood in your local telephone book.

Prepare to Apply

1. Research the job requirements for the position in which you are interested.

2. Enroll in a local course or workshop on any software you may not understand, if needed to perform job responsibilities. Check a local library or nonprofit career center for courses available if affordability is a concern.

3. Customize your resume -- and any other supporting documents you will submit to the State of Florida -- to highlight relevant accomplishments and education. List any courses you are currently enrolled in.

4. Prepare a list of all past employers, if you do not yet have them listed. List them in order by date employed. This list should answer all questions asked in the "Periods of Employment" section of the State of Florida application.

1. Access the State of Florida Employment Application process online at https://jobs.myflorida.com/index.html.

2. Register on the People First website using a valid email address.

3. Perform a vacancy search by clicking the "Vacancy Search" link, underneath the People First banner at the top of the web page.

4. Read all application instructions carefully and double-check all fields before proceeding to the next screen.

5. Submit your application.

2. Read all application instructions carefully and double-check all fields, including the signature field.
