How to Cook a Smithfield Ham
Whether you are feeding your family or entertaining dinner guests, cooking a Smithfield ham is likely one of the easiest meals to prepare. There is virtually no prep time, and in the time it takes to bake, you can assemble a number of side dishes. While many people have personalized the process of cooking a ham to fit their tastes, the preparation is always a variation on the same basic method. Does this Spark an idea?

Whole Ham

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Remove the ham from its packaging.

Place face down in a baking dish

Cover ham tightly with aluminum foil.

Cook for 20 minutes per pound. You should monitor the temperature inside the ham with a meat thermometer. The ham will be finished when the center reaches 160 degrees. At that point, it is ready to remove from the oven and serve.

Remove the foil 30 minutes before serving if wish to add glaze. Add the glaze liberally and return the ham to the oven, uncovered. After half an hour, your glazed ham will be ready to serve.
Spiral Ham

Preheat the oven to 250 and remove the spiral cut ham from its packaging.

Place spiral ham face down in a baking dish.

Cover tightly with foil.

Bake for 12 minutes per pound, and monitor with a meat thermometer so the internal temperature does not exceed 160.

Remove and serve. Or, if you wish to add glaze, remove the aluminum foil half an hour before serving, add the glaze, and return the ham uncovered to the oven for the rest of its cooking time.

Tips & Warnings
If you leave the ham in the oven too long, it will dry out.
