How to Refill HP C3100 Cartridges

Hewlett Packard (HP) C3100 Photosmart all-in-one printer series use the HP 92 black ink cartridge and the HP 93 color ink cartridges, which yields about 200 to 210 pages when printing. Refill kits can be used to refill the ink cartridge at home as soon as the ink cartridge runs out of ink. Depending on the brand name refill kit that you purchase, you can refill one cartridge up to 10 times.

Instructions

  1. HP #93 Color Ink Cartridge

    • 1

Lay the paper towel down on a table. Remove the three ink bottles of cyan, magenta, yellow and three syringes from the refill kit.

    • 2

Remove the label from the ink cartridge to reveal the vent holes. The yellow vent hole is on the top center, magenta is bottom left and cyan is bottom right.

    • 3

Insert the syringe needle into a bottle of ink. Pull up on the top to draw 5 milliliters of ink into the syringe. Do this for each color using a separate syringe for each color.

    • 4

Insert the needle into the correct vent hole. Cover the other two vent holes with your finger to prevent ink contamination. Push down on the top of the syringe to inject the ink. Stop filling if any ink bubbles out of the vent hole and wipe up with the paper towel. Cartridges that are not empty will not take the full amount of ink. Repeat this step for the other two colors.

    • 5

Replace the HP #93 ink cartridge in the printer. Use any document to run two to three test pages to cycle the ink.

    HP #92 Black Ink Cartridge

    • 6

Lay the paper towel on the work table. Remove the black ink bottle and one syringe from the kit. Remove the label from the ink cartridge.

    • 7

Place the syringe needle in the bottle of black ink. Pull up on the plunger to draw out 5 milliliters of ink.

    • 8

Insert the needle into the vent hole. The vent hole to refill is at the top center of the cartridge. Press down on the plunger to inject the ink. If the ink bubbles out of the vent hole, stop and wipe up with the paper towel. Cartridges that are not empty will not take the full amount of ink.
