Instructions for a Magellan GPS
Your Magellan GPS is easy to use to plan a long trip, find and map local directions, and to discover points of interest along your way. You can set the GPS to find the fastest route, the shortest distance and to use or not use freeways and toll roads. The keyboard makes it easy to enter and change addresses. Follow some basic tips to get started with your Magellan GPS.

Turn on your Magellan GPS by depressing the "ON/OFF" button for 1 to 2 seconds. Read the warnings and tap "OK."

Tap the "Menu" button. Tap "Show Map" to show your current position.

Tap "Trip Planner," "New" and enter your destination information. Tap "OK." Tap "Route Method" and choose "Fastest Time" or "Shortest Distance." Tap on least or greatest amount of freeways. Tap the "Route Calculate Button" and "Guide Me" for voice instructions.

The Map Screen will appear on the GPS in 3-D mode with the "Menu" button, the time and the speed at which you are traveling. This screen will update as you drive, showing you intersections and side streets. Slide your finger over the GPS map if you need to pan on the map.

Follow the voice prompts. Turn off the voice prompts if you so desire by tapping the speaker icon on the Map Screen. Tap the "Mute" button and "Save" to make the speaker icon appear again with a line through it. Tap the "Mute" button again to return to the voice prompts.

Tips & Warnings
Go over the basic functions of your Magellan GPS before you start to drive on a trip. Practice using the Trip Planner. Pull over if you find it difficult to follow the Magellan GPS directions.
