How to Diamond Polish Shark Teeth
Shark teeth fall out of a shark's mouth throughout its life. Shark teeth also fall out of a shark's mouth after it has died. It is possible to find old and new shark teeth when combing a beach early in the morning. Before polishing, a shark tooth is rough and has a dull appearance that is brown, black or a dull ivory. Shark teeth that are petrified and rock-hard can be polished with diamond Dremel bits to create a shiny luster over the surface of the shark tooth. This enhances the display of any shark tooth and makes more attractive jewelry.

- Petrified shark teeth
- Dish soap
- Soft brush
- Towels
- Dremel tool
- Diamond polishing bits in several grits
- Soft cloth
- Polishing compound

Wash the shark teeth to remove dirt, debris and sand from the surface of the teeth. Wash in a solution of warm water and dish soap. Scrub the surface of the teeth with a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush. Dry the shark teeth with a towel. Allow the teeth to dry overnight before polishing.

Attach the roughest diamond polishing bit to the Dremel tool. Plug the tool into an electrical socket.

Place the top third of the polishing bit against the shark tooth. Try to hold the bit as flat as possible to prevent scratching the surface of the tooth. Turn on the Dremel tool. Polish each section of the tooth with the rough grit bit.

Switch out the bit with a finer grit bit. Polish the entire surface of the tooth with the finer bit. Continue to polish the tooth with finer bits until the surface is smooth and starts to shine.

Wipe the surface of the tooth to remove dust from the surface. Polish away any scratches or remaining rough areas with the finest grit diamond bit.

Apply a small amount of polishing compound to the soft cloth. Rub the surface of the shark tooth with the polishing compound and soft cloth to buff the surface of the tooth to a high shine. If you note any rough areas, Dremel them away with the diamond polishing bit and shine with the polishing compound once more.
