Wallets are an important part of everyday life. Most people carry their wallet with them at all times, allowing them access to cash, credit cards and important documents. With such a wide array of styles, materials and prices, buying a wallet can be a difficult task. For this reason, the duct tape wallet has grown in popularity. Created from a few everyday items, a duct tape wallet offers a cheap alternative to any store-bought model.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the duct tape into four lengths. These should be 10 inches long.

    • 2

Lay the strips of duct tape next to each other with the sticky side facing upward.

    • 3

Stick the first strip of duct tape to the second, the third strip to the second and the fourth strip to the third, so that all four strips of duct tape are connected.

    • 4

Cut another piece of duct tape, 10 inches long, and attach it sticky side down to the sticky side of the first strip of duct tape.

    • 5

Repeat step 4, placing strips of duct tape to all four of the original strips. You should now have a solid sheet of duct tape.

    • 6

Trim off any tape that is sticking out from the sheet.

    • 7

Fold the duct tape sheet in half, open it out, and fold it in half on the other side, creating a bi-fold. It should now begin to resemble a wallet.

    • 8

Cut two more pieces of duct tape into lengths of 18 inches and stick them together with the sticky sides facing each other.

    • 9

Cut another 18-inch length of duct tape. Cut this piece down the middle to create two thin pieces of tape, each 18 inches long.

    • 10

Use these thin strips of tape to create a seam on the top and bottom of the 18-inch strip of duct tape.

    • 11

Use your credit card as a measuring guide to cut the tape into strips. These will become the pockets of your wallet. Remember to leave 1/2 inch of space to allow the cards to fit into the pockets. You should have a total of four pockets.

    • 12

Cut another length of duct tape. It should be slightly over 10 inches. As in step 9, cut this piece down the center to create two thin strips. Fold these strips over the top of the folded sheet to create seams.

    • 13

Place the four credit card pockets onto the face of your wallet. Cut a 4-inch strip of tape, and cut it in half to create a thin strip. Stick this down the middle of the wallet to hold the credit card pockets into place. Tuck the top of the tape inside the wallet.

    • 14

Cut three more 4-inch pieces of tape. Stick these on each side and on the bottom of the wallet so that the credit card pockets are stuck firmly in place.

    • 15

Trim any excess tape sticking out from the wallet.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have taped over the money pocket, use the scissors to trim the tape.

  • Ensure that the back of your wallet is higher than your front. This will prevent things from falling out of it.

  • Remember to tape all the edges of the wallet.
