      Turn your Ford Edge's engine off and open the hood. To open the hood, release the hood level located underneath your Ford Edge's steering wheel.

      Pull the plastic terminal covers off your battery and push them to the side, out of your way.

      Remove the metal connector rings around your terminal. If you are disconnecting your battery for storage purposes, you only need to remove the terminal ring on the side marked negative. Your metal terminal rings should be tightly attached. Loosen the connection with a screwdriver.
