Using Adobe InDesign

Open the Adobe InDesign program from Adobe Creative Suite. Select "Create new book" from the File menu. This enables you to make a book of the pages instead of having the handbook files as separate pages. This will work even if your files are already in .pdf form.

Copy and paste the information from your employee handbook into the InDesign book. Remember that the information should show up like a book online so start a new page for every page of the book.

Select "Create .pdf" or "Publish .pdf" from the File menu after you have finished adding all of the pages. This will create a book of .pdf pages for the handbook.

Upload the .pdf book to your website. Users will be able to flip through or print the handbook just like it was in front of them on the table.

Open your word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, and copy your handbook files into a single document with multiple pages. If your files already are in a word processing format, make sure they are in a single document. Review the pages to make sure they appear the same as they do in the handbook. Save the document.

Select your desired program to convert the document to a .pdf file, if you want to publish the handbook online in that format. Skip this step if you want to publish the handbook as a word processing file. Most find that a .pdf file is much easier to read and print for Internet users, but you can publish a word processing file or any type of file to your web server.

Open your website control panel and publish the handbook to the web. Select the file and link to the appropriate pages. Open and view the files to ensure that they published properly.
