How to Make Windows XP Explorer Like Vista Explorer

If you like the Vista Explorer but don't want to deal with the hassle of upgrading your entire operating system, you can use a number of freely downloadable tools available for Windows XP that allow you to integrate many of Vista's features into your current version of Explorer.

      Download and install Vista Drive Icon. In Vista, the various storage volumes listed in Explorer's Computer window have colored bars underneath them, indicating how much free space is still available. This tool adds the same functionality to XP's My Computer window.

      Download and install QT Address Bar. This program gives you a breadcrumb-style address bar, similar to the Vista version of Windows Explorer. Once it's installed, right-click on the existing address bar and select "QT Breadcrumbs Address Bar" to activate it.

      Download and install the File Preview Program for Windows Explorer. The program emulates Vista's Explorer preview feature, allowing you to see the contents of almost any file without having to open it in an external program.
