First impressions are important, not just with people, but with gifts. Instructions

    • 1

Locate a box that is large enough to hold your gift.

    • 2

Unfold the box so that it is flat, like a sheet of paper.

    • 3

Assemble your material that will make up your gift bag. You can use recycled or new wrapping paper that you have on hand, or you can be creative and use other paper items lying around your house. If your gift is for someone that loves fashion, cut out pictures from fashion magazines and glue them together to make a fashion-themed gift bag. Use newspaper for a modern looking gift bag, or decorate construction paper and create your own wrapping paper. Tailor your gift bag towards the person receiving the gift by using whatever type of paper would best suite her.

    • 4

Cut out or assemble your chosen piece of paper so that it is a little larger than the dimensions of your flattened box.

    • 5

Spread your paper out on a flat surface, and place your flattened box on the inside part of the paper so that it is centered.

    • 6

Trace the outline of your box onto the paper.

    • 7

Fold the sides of the box pack into place, and draw a line on the wrapping paper marking where these folds are. Remove the box from the paper and place it off to the side; you will no longer need it.

    • 8

Place a ruler on the lines marking the folds, and fold the paper over the ruler, making a crease. Do this on all crease lines.

    • 9

Fold the paper together according to your drawn lines and creases. Place pieces of tape on the inside of the formed bag to hold it together.

    • 10

Create a crease in the side of the bag by pushing the bag together.

    • 11

Measure the length of the top of your bag and punch two holes on each side, evenly spaced. Place the metal eyelets on the inside of the holes.

    • 12

Measure and cut two pieces of decorative cord or string according to your desired length. Loop the string through each hole on each side so that the ends are facing the inside of the bag. Secure with small knots.

    • 13

Place your gift in your packaging and decorate with tissue paper or gift tags.
