How to Troubleshoot MSN Premium

MSN Premium is an add-on service that complements your high-speed Internet provider for a monthly fee. The bundle of software that comes with MSN Premium includes computer-wide anti-virus and firewall service, advanced junk email filters, pop-up guard, productivity software and multiple email accounts. If the MSN Premium programs are not working, the most likely reason is that there is an issue with your Internet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Close all programs and turn off your computer.

    • 2

Reset your Internet router. Check the front and back of the router for a reset button. Press the reset button and wait until the lights on the front of the router go off and then come back on. If your router does not have a reset button just unplug the power supply and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in.

    • 3

Check to see that all cables are securely inserted into the router and in your computer.

    • 4

      Turn on your computer.

    • 5

Open up the MSN Explorer browser to see if it now connects to the Internet. If it does not, check to see if the firewall is preventing access.

    • 6

Open the firewall icon, which is in the lower right-hand corner of your desktop. Open either preferences or options and see if "MSN Explorer" or "MSN-E" is listed and granted access to the Internet. If it is not granted access, right-click on "MSN Explorer or "MSN-E" and select the option that allows Internet access.

    • 7

Open MSN Explorer. If it is still not working, the issue might be with MSN Premium. You should contact MSN to see if something needs to be resolved on its end.
