How to Set Natural Hair on Rollers
To achieve a head of curly hair, you have a few options. You can use a curling iron or braid your hair when wet to get waves. However, if you want your curls to hold throughout the day, set your hair on rollers. This more traditional method of curling the hair ensures that the style lasts throughout the day. A variety of roller types exist to give you the curl size you desire. A wet set, in particular, will help curls to hold better. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wash and condition your hair. Use a shampoo and conditioner set with extra volumizing and texturizing properties to help the hair hold onto the curls. Then, dry hair lightly with a towel, making sure to blot only to minimize frizz.

2
Apply product. For most hair types, leave-in conditioner and a styling lotion are optimal because they don't weigh down the hair, but give it enough texture to hold on to the roller and form a curl.

3
Style your hair into the style you desire. For example, if you want to have it down with a middle part, form the part. If you want to have it all sideswept, brush hair to one side of your head.

4
Determine the direction of your curls. If you want them falling forward in your chosen style, roll the hair toward the front. If you want your hair going back, roll the hair accordingly.

5
Part your hair into small pieces and, starting from the ends, begin to wrap hair around the roller. You will need two hands to accomplish this as one hand is holding the roller in place and the other is getting the hair onto the roller and helping to roll it down toward the scalp. Fasten the roller with a hair clip or bobby pin to hold it in place.
