How to Use Two Bluetooth Phones With a Sony Xplod

The Sony Xplod series of car stereos has standard features like multiple CD changers, custom equalizer settings and on some models, Bluetooth phone support. Xplod models with Bluetooth receivers can not only route hands-free calls though the car stereo, they can stream A2DP music from phones that support it. If your car is used by more than one person, it's possible to pair more than one phone with the car stereo--just not at the same time.

  • Start your car and turn on the Sony Xplod stereo. Hold down the Bluetooth ("BT") button to turn it off, if it isn't off already. Hold the button again until the oval "B" icon displays on the stereo screen. (The stereo is not ready to be paired until the icon is blinking on and off.)

  • Turn on your first Bluetooth phone and enter the Bluetooth connection menu. Search for the Xplod's entry in the devices list, and click "Pair." You may have to enter an entry code; try "0000" or "1234."

  • Once the pairing is complete, turn off the Bluetooth functions of the first phone. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create a pairing connection between the Xplod stereo and the second phone.

  • Set the first phone's Bluetooth functions to "On" and the second phone's Bluetooth functions to "Off" when you want to use the first phone with the stereo. Wait for the first phone and the stereo to connect.

  • Switch the on/off functions of both phones when you want to use the second phone with the stereo. The Xplod can use up to eight Bluetooth devices, but only one at a time can be connected.
