How to Refresh an iPod


Take advantage of the your iPod's software and firmware updates to get the most out of the device. Apple releases updates periodically so you can refresh your iPod with newer updates. This will keep the iPod functioning properly and repair any past software issues or bugs with the device. Use iTunes to download and apply the latest updates to your iPod.

  • Open iTunes.

  • Click on "Help" in the menu bar, then select "Check For Updates." If one is available, iTunes will download and apply it.

  • Open the "Edit" menu, then click "Preferences."

  • Select the "Devices" tab.

  • Place a check mark in the box next to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads From Syncing Automatically." Then click the "OK" button.

  • Connect the iPod to the PC.

  • Click on the iPod under the "Devices" section of the iTunes sidebar.

  • Click the "Check For Update" button in the Summary pane.

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.
