How to Replace a Dryer Vent Hose Inside a Wall
Most standard dryers have a vent hose that allows the dryer to exhaust hot air to the outside. The vent hose is made of a flexible metal. With most dryers, one end of the vent hose attaches to the back of the unit, and the other is inserted in a hole in the wall that goes directly outside. In some circumstances, the hose is run inside the wall before it vents to the outside of the house. You can replace a hose in this type of setup with just the correct-size hose, some duct tape and a screwdriver. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Determine the approximate length of the vent hose from the dryer to where it eventually comes out of the house. Purchase a vent hose that, when fully extended, will be long enough to run the entire distance easily.
-
2
Slide the dryer away from the wall to gain access to the vent hose. Use a screwdriver to loosen the metal band that holds the hose onto the dryer's exhaust.

3
Attach one end of the new hose to the end of the old hose using duct tape. Make sure that the new hose is securely taped to the old hose.
-
4
Attach the other end of the new hose to the exhaust on the dryer and secure it with the metal band. Make sure that the hose is attached tightly.
-
5
Locate where the dryer exhaust is vented on the outside of the house. Remove the screws that hold the vent cover onto the side of the house and remove the hose from the vent cover. The hose is attached with the use of a metal band similar to the one that secures the other end to the dryer.
-
6
Pull the vent hose slowly and carefully until you see the new vent hose appear. Remove the tape that connected the new hose to the old one and attach the new hose to the vent cover. Attach the vent cover back to the side of the house.
