How to Fix Faux Fur
Faux fur is often used for coats, hats or in accessories to add a luxurious touch to your home's decor. If your faux-fur item has a rip or hole, you can easily repair it yourself. Use a technique to allow the extra fibers on the surface of the faux fur to hide the repairs. Does this Spark an idea?

Pinch the fabric together to close the hole or rip on the wrong side of the fabric. The wrong side of the fabric is the side without fur. Sew a small seam through the pinched-up fabric. Make sure it is the smallest possible seam that will completely enclose the hole or rip.

Turn the fabric over. The fur will be caught on each side of the seam. Stick the point of a darning needle under the fur next to the seam and gently pull up the fur on both sides.

Brush the fur with a soft brush to blend it together and hide the seam. Trim any fibers that stick out above the level of the surrounding fur.

Tips & Warnings
A soft toothbrush makes a good fur brush as does a soft dog brush.
Light-weight sewing machines can be damaged by sewing large amounts of faux fur. Minimize the damage to your machine by cleaning it frequently when sewing faux fur.
