How to Glue Wood to Metal: Easy Instructions
Woodworking projects sometimes include adding metal fixtures or decorative details to wood. Epoxy is an adhesive that works well for such projects. Most epoxy glue products consist of a resinous base that you must combine with a chemical accelerator (also called a catalyst). When blended properly, it creates a strong bond that will permit drilling and sanding upon curing. To get the best results when attaching wood to metal, use clamps.

Place the wood and metal components next to each other in your workspace.

Mix the epoxy glue according to the package instructions.

Apply the epoxy to the wood and metal at the point of desired attachment and apply gentle pressure. Quickly wipe away with a lint-free cloth any glue that seeps out of the joints.

Wrap the glued metal and wood snugly in plastic sheeting to make sure the epoxy will cure slowly. Slower curing usually means a stronger epoxy when hardened.

Attach one or more woodworking clamps (depending on the size of your project) to hold the glued wood and metal firmly together. Clamping provides better adhesion by preventing air pockets from forming, which would otherwise weaken the bond and impair attachment. Allow your glued project to cure overnight before unclamping it and removing the plastic sheeting.
