Firewalls protect your computer from unauthorized access.

Adobe is a large software manufacturer that makes many powerful software titles such as After Effects, Premier and Dreamweaver. The software created by Adobe often has updates that are available for free. Installing the software usually includes, as part of the package, a component to download and install updates. You can change these options or block Adobe from updating your software.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off Adobe updates. Open your Adobe program and go to the "Help" menu. Choose the update option. When that appears, click on "Preferences" and set it to not automatically download and install.

    • 2

Set up a firewall if you have no Adobe programs or the problem is still occurring. You can download a free firewall such as Zone Alarm or purchase one of many commercial programs. After downloading and installing, you can choose websites to block and set it so that you are prompted before anything is allowed to download or install.

Install anti-spyware and anti-virus software, such as AVG Free and SuperAntiSpyware, which are both free programs. These programs will help block any downloads that are not legitimate. Just download install and occasionally run a full computer scan.
