How to Become a Realtor in Las Vegas, Nevada


For individuals interested in selling real estate in Las Vegas, becoming a realtor is one way to establish yourself in the business. Obtaining a Nevada real estate salesperson license is the first step to becoming a real estate agent in Las Vegas. Becoming a realtor requires that you join the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.

  • Enroll in real estate courses that are accredited by the Nevada Real Estate Commission. You can find a list of approved schools on the State of Nevada Department of Business and Industry website.

  • Apply to take the Nevada real estate salesperson license examination. Your real estate school will provide you with the proper forms.

  • Sit for the real estate exam. Once you are notified that you have passed, you can apply for the State of Nevada license. This application will be included with the notification of successful completion of the exam, along with instructions on what else to include with your application.

  • Locate a Las Vegas broker with whom you will work as a real estate salesperson. To use the title of "realtor" in Las Vegas, your broker must be a member of the National Association of Realtors. However, you can work as a real estate agent without joining the association.

  • Ask your broker for an application to join the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. Complete the form, have your broker sign it, and send it to the association with the current annual dues. As of 2010, annual dues are $525 and are pro-rated on a monthly basis. This amount includes your dues for the Las Vegas Association of Realtors, the Nevada Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Once your membership has been approved, you can seek use the title "realtor" in Las Vegas, Nevada.
