A Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is the standard protocol used to send text messages with multimedia components to a cellular phone. The iPhone is fully enabled to receive MMS messages, and you can text many types of files via MMS to the iPhone. Supported file types include PDF, JPEG, XLS, DOC and TIFF, HTML and MP3 and QuickTime.

- Cell phone with MMS compatibility
Determine the cellular phone number associated with your iPhone.
Compose the text message you want to send to the iPhone. Attach the file to the text message. Consult your phone's manual to determine how to attach a file to the text message.
Enter the iPhone's cellular phone number in the "Send To" field.
Press "Send" on the cellular phone. Your text message will appear momentarily in your iPhone's "Messages" in-box.
