Save

The iPhone is a cell phone and an iPod, but it is also an email client and an external hard drive that you can keep all sorts of files in. If you want to copy files from your iPhone to your computer without syncing your device with iTunes, then you'll be able to do this no matter what level of computer skills you have. Copying files from the iPhone to your computer is a very basic computer skill.

  • Plug your iPhone to your computer using the USB charger cable that you were given when you purchased the device.

  • Click "Start," then "Computer" to access the "Computer" folder on your computer.

  • Double-click your iPhone device, and then double-click "Internal Storage."

  • Double-click the folder labeled "DCIM," and then double-click the folder labeled "800AAAAA."

  • Select the files in the 800AAAAA folder that you want to copy to your computer.

  • Open a folder on your computer that you want to copy these files to, and then drag the files from the 800AAAAA folder to the folder you just opened. The files will then copy to your computer without syncing with iTunes.
